Southampton on Friday signed Croatian winger Mislav Orsic from struggling Premier League club Dinamo Zagreb.
British media reported that Southampton, 20th in the Premier League standings, paid around £8 million ($9.66 million) for the 30-year-old, who has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract.
Orsic has 27 caps for Croatia and scored in a 2-1 win over Morocco in the World Cup third-place playoff match in Qatar last month.
Southampton manager Nathan Jones said, “Mislav is an important addition to our squad and I am delighted that we have been able to acquire him so early this month.”
“He is a serious attacking threat and I’m sure anyone who has followed his progress or what he has achieved at the World Cup will get a sense of his talent. We are excited to have him here.”
